fashion week: nanette lepore
Some other blogger I fail to remember at this second says they like Elle.com’s runway coverage better, so I’m going to use them for a bit and see what I think.
One of my favorite stores here, Ambiance, has Nanette Lepore all over the place. It’s usually very sweet and feminine.
I dig those wide leg pants. They’re flowy, which I think Fabsugar or somewhere christened as the word of the season. The assymetrical top is cute, but I thought the whole one-shouldered thing was out for the moment? Did I miss a memo?
A bit on the details of this show. Colors: yellow, bright orange, fuschia, bright everything, grey and khaki. Peach lips. Lots of cloth shoes. I don’t really like the shows, myself. But I like cute flats and kick-butt high heels. Big hair, very big hair. Lots of scarf wraps on the head. A version of the turban deal that’s going around?
Seriously, this is bright yellow done well. It’s a hard color to wear, though. I think most people will opt for the mustard yellow instead of primary. Check out the polka dots. Lepore really liked that pattern for this show.
This is a great take-away look. It’s totally wearable and you probably have the pieces in your closet. Satin-y top? Check? Flowy skirt? Check. Bright slingbacks? Check.
Boiled down: Tropicana done classy. Bright colors with a muted grey and khaki base. We really aren’t seeing any jersey. More of the satin and silk. There were a TON of patterns. Polka dots, cross-hatch, embroidery, stripes and florals.
