fashion week: thuy 08
Who is Thuy? Thuy is a designer who is the daughter of two tailors. She’s Vietnamese, which I think is great, since I’m Viet as well. And she’s work with United Bamboo, who is fantastic.

A lot of Thuy for spring 08 has this sheer look to it. It’s breezy, and to use this word again, flowing. I like the layered look of the metallic skirt and the shoes are just fantastic.

The whole collection is something I imagine is an editorial shot in the desert. It’s very much breezy thin wear. Simply styled, in a good way. A lot of Fashion week so far has been very close to the body — this dress has a feminine air, without looking like a bag.

Loving that vest. and metallic pants, who knew they could look so effortless?

Check out the poof in that skirt. it’s the same illusion you get from jodhpurs, which are huge or will be very, very soon.
Boiled down: the colors were very white, metallic with tiny, tiny hints of yellow. Loose, sheer and casual pretty much sum it up. I do happen to love ALL the shoes that were worn here, most of them were satin and un-wearable, but gorgeous anyway. You can see a lot of United Bamboo in this, or maybe it’s vice versa?
