Show some city-lovin’ pride with the My Block Necklace from Block Party Press.
Each one is made with polymer clay and acrylic pain and depicts, well, a city block. I’m a city girl, so I love the way skylines look. They’re pretty and each city has a certain feel at dusk when the skyline looks like this.
You can get this in different colors (I think a hot pink one would be fantastic!)

These Gentle Fawn Shorts are part of a gigantic sale over at Chosen Stock.
I’m not a huge fan of shorts myself, but these are really cute with the pockets and all the detailing. Twill shorts will go with pretty much anything you’ve got in your wardrobe and could probably be dressed up with some heels and a nice top.
$36.60 from $61. Sizes 2, 4, 6, and 10.

Project Runway contestant Emily Brandle is half of the design team behind Smoke and Mirrors. The other half is Michelle Chaplin. They’ve been friends for nine years, and met while attending the Otis College of Art and Design in 1998.
They launched Smoke & Mirrors from LA not long ago and I love the designs they’ve come up with.
This dress has silk chiffon and a pretty silk dupioni neck and sash for a belt. It’s fresh and young, with a definite edgy appeal.

Oooo. Found an interview with Emily over at the Sacramento Bee.

I haven’t found any lingerie lately, but I was excited when Indie Quarter pointed me toward La Magia, a great UK store with small-brand lingerie designers.
The Ayten Gasson collection was one of my favorites. It’s a very retro pinup collection with lots of satin and sexiness. This babydoll top is a little cutesy with all the ruffles.
It’s made with pink silk and printed silk chiffon and totally handmade. It looks amazing luxe and will probably make you feel like a sex goddess when you put this on.

SInce we all found out the terrible news about indies getting copied, I thought I’d tip my hat to Trashy Diva.
She’s one of the designers putting up a fight against a web boutique (I’d name it, but I’d rather not give it any publicity) that is copying the gorgeous dress you see above.
The Trixie Dress is Trashy Diva’s pride and joy and it’s a dress that she’s spent ages on perfecting. This is the second full version of this dress and it’s only gotten better.
Best of all, you can get this dress at a great price, $34. It’s cheap and it’ll help this designer fight a good cause. Plus, it’s a gorgeous dress that is available in a number of pretty retro prints!
Sizes Extra small to large.

I’m in Chicago this week for some career-related stuff and to visit friends, but you probably won’t notice because I was a busy, busy girl last week.
I’m still checking in and I’m hoping to get a few posts in here and there. While I’m here, eating some gigantic pizza and hoping to stop by CB2, what indie-ness should I check out?
I’ve been here plenty of times, but I’ve never had a chance to go look for awesome boutiques.
Suggestions?

If you’re looking for a cardigan that is far from boring, take a look at this cool cardi from ModCloth.
With a drape-y frame and opposing stripes, this cardigan is definitely a showstopper. I’m getting tired of seeing so many stripes aht are horizontal, they look terrible unless you are tall and skinny. I am neither of those things.
Vertical stripes are so much better, but both will make me just as happy.
$44.99
