The description on this dress by indie sewing maven Built By Wendy says “surprisingly hip-slimming.”

Uhm. I don’t know about that. Lookit all the layers on those hips. The dress is gorgeous, but I seem to think only a non-hipful gal can carry it off.

What do y’all think?

Sizes extra small to medium, in navy and hunter green. $292

the dress is SO super cute! I really like it… but i agree with you, it seems like you either have to be a size 0 with no hips, or super tall so you don’t end up looking very wide. I’m tempted to buy it just to see how it looks, and return it if i look like a pear. ;)

OK… i did it, eek! I love the dress, and decided to treat myself (hopefully). I bought the dress, but in the dark green. I’ll let you know the verdict when I receive it.

Ok the results are in… I was so excited to love this, but it’s a no-go. I’m not a big girl (size 2), and this dress really made me look WIDE. I think in order for it to look good you have to stand exactly like that picture, haha. I’m returning it, so sad! But a fun experiment. :)
